At the completion of a journey at either terminus (I had to do them a lot in those days) I used to walk past the beautiful but modest giants and look at them in awe and admiration. As I said in a post on "Horsforth Signal Box" my favourite for some reason, childish I suppose, was ALYCIDON, and the picture earlier of it (under "Horsforth Signal Box - thank you Yorkiesknob) alongside Armley Road is a real treat for me.
There's nothing like keeping the past alive - it makes us relieved to reflect that any bad times have gone, and happy to relive all the joyful and fascinating experiences of our own and other folks' earlier days.

I suppose its safe to say this now, but I once had a good friend (RIP) who was a top link driver on the line, and he once took me in the sheds and inside the cab of a brand new Deltic - I think it had yet to make its first service run but can't be sure. Not being well up on railway matters I can't remember which shed, but would it have been Copley Hill ??

I was so upset when the glorious dark blue and red (with gold fleetname) GNER livery was scuppered - but happy now to see the simple but very pleasing and dignified ECML silver grey colours - lets hope they are not superceded !!

I was incharge of the demolition of the old island platform of 3/4 of the old station in the 1980s, platform 1/2 had been removed in the 1970s, all this was for extending the station car park after the railway closed its car park on the old Leeds central station site. track was still left in platform 5/6 for parcel, mail & newspaper trains. Track was lifted out of platform 5 for the multistorey car park.
