Thanks for your help Phill, which is appreciated.I don't claim to be an observant person but when I saw the photo I immediately thought that I did not recall seeing what would be such an obvious structure if it was currently there. There's hope for me yet!

Just looked at the aerial image, after the fire the roofs lower down were damaged, but our part with the tower on looks ok. I think the tower is still visible on this 1975 shot too? I do seem to recall a fire in one of those buildings though, can anyone else recall anything?

I tried searching the Leeds council planning site to see if there was a planning application to remove the tower but I couldn't find one. What I did find was this (thankfully withdrawn) application from 1986 to knock down all the buildings on that side of the road for future redevelopment: https://publicaccess.leeds.gov.uk/onlin ... 86Possibly the tower was removed about the same time?

Never noticed that the outdoor stalls are, sort of, colour co-ordinated (Yellow, Blue and Red). Anyone know why? Or is there no reason?
