Despite how it looks, I didn’t make it myself, but could probably have done a better job if I had. At least I would have made it with a working buttonhole! Crushed a lot of grass has that jacket....

No home grown red roses available by then. I suppose it would be a good day for some hotpot though - especially if it comes with a great chunk of Yorkshire pudding!

I wouldn't want to spoil my Yorkshire Pud by putting L.Hotpot on it! Have you noticed I can't bear to write the word L-n-as---?

LO Lilts. Hope I didn't cause offence with my remarks abt the jacket.Herco the Presser,(Old Leeds firm now defunct,I'm afraid!), would have had it up to Savile Row standards! (Or should that be Cherry Row!) anyway, the grass stains would have been removed with the pressing!By the way,did you find out the rose's name?Lapel button holes are usually stitched up anyway so you couldhave used one of Poirot's dinky pin on flower holders!(That's Hercule, not Herco of course!)Tea time, gotta gocheersArry

My apology’s, I did find out the name of the rose, it’s a “Madame Plantier” and the guy says that he stocks it because of its scent though he thought it would be a bit big to wear as a buttonhole. And no, I didn’t take any offence about the jacket. I think it would need more than pressing [a whip and a chair, probably] to get it back into shape.

Briggy wrote: liits - thanks very much for taking the trouble to find out the variety. Going to be hotfoot to garden centre asap because it looks to be an absolute beauty.Stutterdog - of course, you're right. Why ruin a good bit of Yorkshire pud. It didn't look too bad and I'd had it in the fridge overnight beforhand. I've kept it on my desk as its scent is still very strong although its started going brown. It'll have to go in the bin soon and the shot glass may have to go with it, I'm not sure how I'll get the gunk off!
