These pics are all supposed to have been taken in the 1970's, so how come the telephone number on the shop has a 2 before it? Strange. Leeds changed from 0532 to 0113 on April 16th 1995 which was the same time that the 2 was added to the original 6 digit number... The Red Brick Cafepicture is from 1992,so perhaps the report should say that the photos "start" from the 1970'sIf anyone is interested in Peter Mitchells Momento mori in hardback there is one on Amazon for £160

That would be Civic Hall serving up magic mushrooms for breakfast again. Those councillors are a funny lot, they often see amazing things the citizens of Leeds can't Hence our problem in Leeds Phil.Such a description as being the Knightsbridge of the north is a double edged sword, unfortunateley one edge makes it appear that Leeds is well off and doesnt need the funding that places such as Sheffield,Manchester and Liverpool attract. We should be playing the poverty card like they do in those cities

Some ace photos! But, agreed with the various points - you can make any city in any decade look like it is in decline if you look hard enough.Favourite picture? I like the orange cement mixer with the union jack.

Pigeons arent in decline where I live. They absolutely plague the underside of the railway bridge on the Leeds - Harrogate line crossing the outer ring road. The footpaths below get into an appauling state. Here are a selection on the opposite block of flats roof railings.
