This Thread cracks me up It's like a comic with the pics and funny comments. I do know though how frustrating council work folk can be.Maybe someone could explain to me the use of Leaf Blower's? We have a guy comes here with his blower and all he does is blow them around! Why not a Leaf Sucker?

Why not a Leaf Sucker?     It's just a joke Caron. I never thought I'd say the council did a good job of anything, but they sure could cut grass quick, cut it well, and do it all in the same day. They'd be round here 2 hours and finished, the streets clean, the grass nice and neat. But this latest shower, round for hours on end, making a racket with a strimmer, not even sure what they are strimming because they poisoned all the bits you need a strimmer for..And they don't even finish it.. I'm pretty sure they will be round again cutting the flat grass before they cut this sloping grass still left from last time.

I get so annoyed really re the council. They go for the cheapest contract and that, (I think), is the problem.I remember my mam saying that when Leeds council had their own work force, (many years ago), they did excellent work.

Well 2 weeks have gone since the level, and one week since the sloping grass(varied sizes of area) was cut.Still no sign of the sloping grass bigger area cutting man.The guy on the little mobility scooter grass cutter I photographed either got bored, or found that grass edge part to difficult to carry on and cut, instead he just left it and went.Of course by now the level grass has also grown and is due another cut, it remains to be seen if the troublesome sloping grass will get cut before the level area man is around again. To be continued!

Just caught a quick glimpse of this elusive guy hiding in the wildlife jungle that is now North Leeds. As one can guess there has been no sign yet of the sloping grass cutting man. The grass is getting very long indeed.Updates and photos to come when things happen, or more to the point... don't happen.Watch this space!

That image Phill reminded me of the Elarwi pygmy tribe in Africa. They are so called because the grass is so tall where they live that they are constantly being heard shouting 'Where the hell are we'? and a bit for that.

They must have heard me Leo. 10 minutes after I posted they were round. And yes they've been up to their usual tricks. The photos will follow tonight

One gang could do the job in one hit. Too simple though obviously. Is it still Continental who have the contract? Looking forward to the next comic strip, Phill

Right we've had them round for over 2 hours with their incessant noise, but what they actually achieved in all that time is a little confusing? There was actually 2 guys with a strimmer this time, but I couldn't get all three in shot. Note one of Leo's half turning circles. The grass men liked the shape so much, they left a boomerang shape of uncut grass to highlight the feature. After endless noise at one side, with only half of the grass cut, they moved to the other side of the flats. Strimmer man can be seen stepping precariously around the edge of the Brackenwood minefield, an area so dangerous that no grass cutting employee can ever tread. With slope-o-meter out, the level of grass has been tested to see which areas of grass are safe to cut. The rest is far too dangerous to even think about cutting. With the grass cutters long since gone, it was time to inspect their work at close range. Looking down the Brackenwood minefield. This is a smaller area of the minefield shaped nicely into a tapered V shape. A general overview of the no go areas.Apart from one big flat area of grass being cut on the other side of the flats, non of the sloping areas has been touched at all. It's all very creative, light and shade artistic patterns. But I wonder how much they are being paid to do this by the council? This is by no means a new thing, they've performed like this since they won the contact!

Maybe one of our locals has the solution here http://www.darlingtonandstocktontimes.c ... efences/On the other hand, do you think it'd be worth us bring the meadow cutter and silage trailer along in a few weeks time? Would LCC object? Possibly one of the Urban Farms in the area could do this?
I like work. I can watch it for hours.
