GuessingThe banks of housing lead up to St Jame's Hospital on horizonand that is part of Roseville Rd mid left but if so, I don't recall a pub?

I just knew that I knew it but could not think where! I had thought it might possibly be Regent Street (just perhaps possibly maybe) as it seemed to have a look of buildings there but the pub threw me. It's so obvious now that I've found out where!

Not too sure yet, I need to check the map. But I think the photo must have been taken after 1976. I think the new industrial buildings just off Roundhay Road replaced the old back to back houses that once stood there. They were made infamous by the Ripper killing of Emily Jackson, found dead in a narrow passageway between Manor Street and Roundhay Road. A workman taking a short cut to work early one morning in 1976 made the gruesome discovery Need to check where Manor Street was.

Manor Street still exists which is surprising. But there was all manner of little yards, and passages between Manor Street and Roundhay Road. It looked a real Victorian replica warren of Whitechapel.

Somewhere on SL there was a baffling photo of slum clearances which only made sense when reversed - it was Oatland Ln with just the odd corner shop of the red bricks still remaining.Is that Jimmys on the hill then and what is the link to the pic, author of this thread? Well done Phill for pinpointing the target area, and probably the vantage point too. Creditable guess from J what with that skyline changing radically with the introduction of the Bexley Wing and other additions to St James'. But if I was having a barbecue, it wouldn't be anywhere near the Oatlands - too far from the Town Hall. Morley Town Hall that is.No personal connection. I came across the the shot while looking into the smallest house/oddities' thread. Another change to the view the photograph provided us with in 1983 - full narrative details here...http://www.leodis.net/display.aspx?reso ... PLAY=FULL- is the inclusion of Roseville County Secondary School, formerly Kepler Council School. This looks to have been a fabulous building - as schools go of course - and can still be viewed on Google Street View 2008 version from the bottom of the slope that leads up to the rear of St James' from Gledhow Road. On that subject, it's beyond me so could one of you GSV gurus put that particular view on the thread in question - i.e. oddities thread - via that bit of 'goo.gl' magic.It's another interesting example of GSV changing from one version to another within yards - in this case 2012 to 2008. One minute it's a car park, then it's a school.
