Jogons photo will be sometime from 1968-1975 at the very latest. The bus is an Atlantean first delivered in 1968 and it carries the old Leeds City transport livery which disappeared with the creation of the West Yorkshire PTE in September 1974. All buses sported the MetroBus PTE verona and cream livery after that date.LCT livery.Metrobus livery.

Jogon wrote: ok then, WHEN!S&P have to say I prefer yours, I'd have got mine 'cos I know the building, but that shot is pretty good. [edit] I'm assuming the left of yours to be the top right of mine? The photograph I included above is (of course) from LEODIS. You are right about the photographer's view J. The narrative says that it was most likely taken from the roof of Darley House, which was at the junction of St Paul's Street and Queen Street. Information on LEODIS also says that Westgate Roundabout was completed in February 1958.The site also tells that Westgate Roundabout was 'no more' sometime during 1973, when the third stage of the Inner Ring Road was coming towards completion. So Phill D's window can be shortened to 1968-1973. I think J's photograph will have been taken towards the start of that period rather than nearer the end. Here is another LEODIS snap dated 1966 when the roundabout had had trees planted on it. Aforementioned Telephone House pride of place in the background.

That's great, pic dated by bus dated by livery. You know you're getting old when old buses ie 1974 look modern I'd allus assumed that they slum cleared & built inner ring road & Int pool but some pics show parts of ring road construction mid 1970'sAlan Bennett's play Sunset Across The Bay accidentally captures some of this + lots of other stuff but only early on http://youtu.be/52g4paA4sRU
