This image is one of those that appear in the SL homepage. It seems to show the water feature in City Square but it must have been taken long ago as I've not seen that working in absolutely ages! Just like the one at the Great George Street/Calverley Street junction of Mandela Garden both these water features seem to be permanantly not working and so should perhaps be dismantled.

The City Square one was working on a few occasions last summer. I don't think it is used in the colder weather for obvious reasons although I don't know why they didn't switch it on during the occupy Leeds protest I think the problem with it being used in the warmer weather is the proximity of the outdoor seating of "Loch Fyne" and the imaginatively named "the Restaurant".Can't use it in cold weather, can't use it in warm waether Hmmmmmmmnnnnnnnnn!

I took this photo on June 25 2012. The site has now has flowers in it. That must have happened quite recently as I pass by occasionally and had not spotted the new use before. I wonder if it is to be permanent?

This was the view on June 25 looking towards Great George Street. The flower arrangements are quite nice, at least for now until they likely get vandalised and/or litter strewn at some stage.

I thought I would add this photo that I took on June 25. It shows what must be a recently drained water feature in Mandela Garden. I wonder if that is temporary? There are wordings on two of the upright stones in the rear which I have never noticed before. One has 'Munroe' on it and the other has 'Thorpe Park, Leeds'.

One or two shops still have postcards of the original 'nice' garden that used to be there. An earlier amusing post alluded to them here. Look closely and you'll see a younger me with potted beef + hp sauce sarnie.

Finally the "Broken Pipe!" fountains are to be replaced with something a lot more attractive.http://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/n ... ortunately, money has been already been spent on the useless things. I noticed the Bull Ring in Wakefield might be going the same way.Another stupid fountain to add to the , "It was 'ere." list.
