I have found using the back button on my browser works better than the active threads one.

Got into Active Threads just now, albeit slowly. Previously today I've had a Server Error message and had to use the back button on my browser.

I think the site is actually performing far worse than it ever did before the server was changed.

The only way i have managed to read threads is to go to the forums ,and then see which threads are updated. The Active Threads link consistently times me out and is unuseable.

Ok folks, basically I think the problem is related to the database which backs the site. It's not optimised properly and needs some maintenance work. That is what is causing the intermittent problems with the active threads page - it's a fairly big job to index all active threads and it's timing out before it finishes. I will be looking into the problem again this week (had a pop last week and it improved it for a short while) and I'll let you know if/when I find a solution.Phill you're probably right about the site not running as quick as it used to - it was on a pretty decent dedicated server owned by Marketing Leeds, which was bloody expensive... These days it's on a cheaper shared one. However now that the ad revenue is coming in, I am looking to upgrade to a better setup.

Don't know if it is just me, but I have been able to get on to Active Threads very, very quickly this afternoon. Hope it stays like this.

I hope the site overseers do not mind me making what I hope is a constructive comment. I know the active threads only covers the last 24 hours but there regularly seems recently to be fewer active threads than there used to be (I think the time period used to sometimes go beyond 24 hours). Currently at least there are only 3 active threads (this one may make 4). I think that a casual viewer of the SL website will only see the few listed and may assume there are no more threads or at least does not try to find out if there are more. Perhaps the time could be extended to 48 hours.
