As per title, does anyone know?I have a small brass one, looks like it was meant to be fixed to a desk or mount, about 4" high, very good quallity fine brass.Released into the wild during a refurb at the Civic hall about 35 years ago.

There is already an extensive thread about the Leeds owl on Secret Leeds herehttp://www.secretleeds.com/forum/Messages.aspx ... 160There's lots of information and locations e.t.c.Probably best to add any new info there to keep topics compact and in order
My flickr pictures are herehttp://www.flickr.com/photos/phill_dvsn/Because lunacy was the influence for an album. It goes without saying that an album about lunacy will breed a lunatics obsessions with an album - The Dark side of the moon!

Pil,Yes I read all the threads with owl in inc that one, but they are all concerned about the owl trail or owls dotted about here and there, none cover the origins of the owl and its relationship to Leeds.I have since found that the Savile coat of arm had 3 European eagle owls and its is those that the owl is based on, Saviles came over with Bill the conqueror and was granted extensive lands inc where Leeds stands now.... As for the exact reason for the association I do not yet know.Yes I suppose it would be tidy to slot this in with the owl trail and modern impressionistic owl emblems and logos etc, but those threads seem more interested in owl spotting and owl tourist trails.

I think the link that Uncle Mick provided gives the sum of what is believed to be the origin of the Owls with the Leeds coat of arms. Can you post a picture of your brass owl please, that would be very intersting to see .

With the current very cold weather brass monkey rather than brass owl comes more to mind!
