I'd also like to say thanks to Duncan for putting on the bash. I'm surprised the Tetley's ran out - it was horrible! It was nice to see some of the people I've met before and some new faces. Many thanks to Liits for his genealogy advice - I still owe you a few beers!Looking forward to the seventh birthday! Cheers!

I’m not surprised that the Tetley’s ran out – I think I drank most of it – and you’re right, Si, it was horrible. I could have manured half the town on Saturday morning!

HiAs everyone had a great time and others like myself couldnt makeit due to short notice etc. Can you not have another meet before the7th Anniversary?????????/I would love to come along but need more than a weeks notice. I had been off line for months as you were not up and running so didnt know you had started again. I think if we had a minimum of 2 months notice would give lots of people the chance to organise the night out but people like me who no longer live in Leeds chance to book a hotel etc.I think its worth it as everyone has tales to tell about their childhoodand also memories of their teenage years out dancing in Leeds etc.I have lots of photos I could bring of Leeds and Armley etc.So come on Admin lets have another night in a few months time and give others the chance to get organised for it.Thanks

The SLS Society are always on the look out for "non official" pictures which can often be gems. Also, from "Ilkley Moor Bah t'at" beneath your posts, did you by any chance have any connection with Ilkley ? - I only ask because I lived there from 1939 to 1964 - not suggesting that you were around all those years I must stress

Hi again,I only have the back of a Legards bus and my sister smiling out ofit. We were going on a trip to Castle Howard for the day. Thats it I am afraid for Sammys. I didnt get a camera until I was 17 and I saved up for weeks and bought a Kodak Instamatic for £3. 0s 1d.I managed to get the Kirkstall Power Station Coolers being blown up in Colour from across the valley. Thought I did well with my camera taking those, especially without a zoom lense. laugh. You ask Blakey if I have any connection with Ilkley. I will have when I am dead as I am having my ashes scattered on Ilkley Moor laugh.I wasnt around in 1939 as I was born after the war. My two brothers were born in 1938 and 1940 and living in Armley. Brian and Geoff. I did take a sequence of photos walking down Armley Town Street once. They showed alot of things that have been knocked down now and as anyone who goes to Armley Town Street nowadays will tell you all the shops were busy and now they are deserted empty shops.Did anyone decide if you were going to hold another SL "meeting" and pretend its someones birthday laugh?

That made me chuckle ArmleyLass47 - I'm sure it wil be many many years before you join the heather on the Moors - with hat or bah t'at !! I wonder if there's any chance please of you attaching a copy of the Castle Howard picture in an E Mail - my E mail address is :[email protected] - as the Samuel Ledgard Society are always happy to discover new pictures for the archive as long as there's any kind of image of the vehicles - only of course if its no trouble.
