He is quite some guitar player and has moved up from the mid sized venues to the larger ones. Talking of Joe Bonamasa guitar playing csnosi, check out this guitarist Paul Rose herehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yDNZagqO-N4Check out that fretboard trick at 01.10, wow....what did he do there? He's from Newcastle, and the North East of England seems to produce some great guitar players. Mark Knopfler and Chris Rea spring to mind.

It's seems to be more popular with the American players, but this guy does it well. It was actually the speed he plays behind the fret around 01.15.. Not only was he good to listen to, but great to watch as well.

No need to start calling the lads who used to turn out for the Fforde Grene. In the sixties and seventies they were a hell of a side, although in the latter part of the sixties I can't remember if they actually ran from Burmantofts Liberal club. And at other times before and after as Cherry Tree United. And what's more they all had footballers names too. Not summat like poncey Lionel. Who is that bloke anyway? Sounds like he should be working in a hair salon!Yeah, names like Jack and Jinksy Marsh, John and Stevie Hall, Jimmy Higgins, Denis Long and Freddie Cliff. And Gordon Carter. Proper footballers. They'd have given that Lionel Whateverisnameis a good run for his money, no matter how much he's got of it. Apologies to the lads whose names escape me.And jumping forward to the 'modern' era, I'm sure I remember reading in the local rag - and it is one - that the FG team had become the first Leeds outfit to reach the (THE!) FA Sunday Cup Final. The match was played at Anfield. Now if you'd said Edmund House WMC or Woodbridge Villa - fair enough. Glad that's over. It was a long time for me to have my tongue stuck so firmly in my cheek.

To be honest, I'm surprised by the varied list of acts already booked in to play the arena. Many of them i wouldn't consider going to see myself, but it shows the variety out there for the venue to make the most of.Sheffield is right to be worried - I was at their arena last year and it's old, tired and not particularly user friendly. The seats are small, with limited leg room and the layout is poor. And don't get me started on the lack of toilets!

If I was involved with Sheffield Arena I'd be worried now. Although neither of these bands are to my tastes, both Boyzone and Stereophonics have swerved Sheffield for their "major" tours this year but HAVE come to Leeds. Also - we seem to be attracting big-name "one offs" as well. Elton John for his only indoor gig and Bruce Springsteen who's gone with Leeds and also Glasgow (both similar attendances). It seems Leeds is building a reputation as the go-to place in Yorkshire now. Obviously the "we'll go everywhere" popsters will take in both Leeds and Sheff, but when it comes to the bigger names its already looking like Leeds has gained an upper hand. Will be interesting to see how Sheffield responds.

Sheffield may envy our shiny new Arena, but I kinda wish we'd taken their format:-Town Centre - swimming + leisure facility (Ponds Forge)Outskirts - Arena
