Hello all. What with all the changes going on behind the scene at SL at the moment, it struck me that (a) it is well past time to refresh the look and feel of the site and (b) now would be a good time to do it! And so the first ever SecretLeeds photography competition was born...BriefSend us a photo (or photos) which you think reflects the stories, myths, people and values of SecretLeeds. It could be anything from a dank dark tunnel to a beautiful urban landscape or a snapshot of historic Leeds. The image needs to be taken in Leeds, and its location must be supplied with your entry. The winning photos (there will be at least 12) will be used as a rotating gallery of images for the website's header banner (like the one at the top of this page).N.B. The image needs to fit the dimensions of a website banner effectively. If you have a look at the one on this page it's 5:1 ratio, very long and thin. Please consider this when selecting your photos. All submitted images need to be supplied in landscape orientation. The minimum width would be 2000px, but the higher the quality the better. Bear in mind the banner space is pretty much letterbox shaped (aspect ratio is currently around 5:1, though this will change when the site is redesigned later this year), so your entry needs to be effective once it has been cropped down to roughly those kind of dimensions. If you have any questions please post them in this thread and I'll do my best to answer them promptly. Please don't use this thread to post your competition entries, because they won't be big enough and given the issues the site has handling image uploads at the moment, they probably won't appear anyway! How to enterAll submissions should be sent to info@secretleeds.com by 5pm on Monday 18th February. The winners will be announced at the SecretLeeds 6th Birthday Party, on 22nd February at The Victoria Hotel, Great George Street, Leeds. Details will also be posted on the website shortly afterwards.Terms and conditionsYou must be the copyright holder for the image, or have the copyright holder's express written permission to use the image on the SecretLeeds site. You must assign SecretLeeds the right to use the image without accreditation (there will be a list of all winning contributors posted on the site - this just means that there won't be any credits or watermarks on the image itself when it's used in the header). You can't use this competition to screw SecretLeeds over in any way, because (a) that would not be cool, and (b) we don't have any cash to sort out a legal wrangle over a blooming photo. So just be cool everybody Thanks for your time, and I look forward to checking out your responses!dsco

Hi folks, just a quick reminder that you only have two weeks to get your entries in for the SecretLeeds Photo Competition. We've had some great submissions so far, so if you want to see your photo in glorious technicolor at the top of the revamped SecretLeeds, you'd best get your pictures in sharpish!PS now that I've fixed the settings for this forum, you should actually be able to respond to this thread... D'oh. Sorry about that

This is your 'less than one week left' reminder for entries - remember they must be submitted by Monday to be in with a chance to win! Why not give it a go, or suggest it to someone you think might be interested?

Closing date for entries is today, get your submissions in sharpish for a chance to win!NEWS FLASH: It turns out there will be limited edition branded SecretLeeds prizes on offer for the lucky winners - exciting stuff! A selection of SL keyrings, makeup mirrors and fridge magnets should be arriving hot off the presses later this week, just in time for the awards ceremony/birthday party on Friday. Now if that doesn't make you want to send in some of your favourite Leeds pics, what will? I might even accept late entries as long as you don't hang about too much

I won't be there, and probably won't win, but I'd like a makeup mirror...

Congratulations to all who entered. The winning entries are all excellent but, if it's not unfair of me to pick one, that of the skyline view from the Bridgewater Place to near the recently installed Big Wheel attraction is superb. It really is a classic shot.
