Whinmoor and Cross Gates would cause some confusion, Whingate, sure I've come across that somewhere

Living in Scarborough people often went inland to buy their cars, new or secondhand. Consequently the name WASS often cropped up and I would say out loud "Oh, Wallace Arnold Spares & Service". "Is that what it is?" I was usually asked. I hope I was correct in telling them yes.

Cheers all for your responses. Interestingly (or not!) I've just found that there is a Post Office officially known (according to the Post Office website) as the 'Bramstan Post Office' at 51 Summerfield Drive, Leeds, LS13. Though the Post Office website does not state the address is in Bramstan some other website's do state its location is in Bramstan.

You could be right, here's another one: Bramhope and Armley!To get back on track though, if you look at an old A-Z (I've got one in the car from the 90's for some reason), there are loads of names attributed to areas of Leeds that I've never heard used. They're usually small enclaves in more well known districts, but there are some quite random sounding ones.
