hehe Broookside delivered another classic of the genre with "Casa Bevron". That's definitely not in Leeds though.

Living in Scarborough people often went inland to buy their cars, new or secondhand. Consequently the name WASS often cropped up and I would say out loud "Oh, Wallace Arnold Spares & Service". "Is that what it is?" I was usually asked. I hope I was correct in telling them yes.

Cheers all for your responses. Interestingly (or not!) I've just found that there is a Post Office officially known (according to the Post Office website) as the 'Bramstan Post Office' at 51 Summerfield Drive, Leeds, LS13. Though the Post Office website does not state the address is in Bramstan some other website's do state its location is in Bramstan.

Starting to think that 'In the beginning' there was but a short list of tags to choose from - and all place names rthereafter are derived from the permutations!

Wallace Arnold Sales and Service, so you were nearly there - part of the once mighty Barr and Wallace Arnold Trust. chameleon wrote: raveydavey wrote: edlong wrote: "Not worth getting in a pickle about."Ba-dum tish! The thread premise reminds me of that other fabled West Yorkshire district of Cleckhuddersfax Or it's near neighbour, Liversausage. mhoulden wrote: It's a pity Seacroft and Horsforth aren't a bit closer, or we could have a suburb called Seahorse. You could be right, here's another one: Bramhope and Armley! To get back on track though, if you look at an old A-Z (I've got one in the car from the 90's for some reason), there are loads of names attributed to areas of Leeds that I've never heard used. They're usually small enclaves in more well known districts, but there are some quite random sounding ones.

If Leeds' newest university opened up a campus in the south of the city, would that make its alumni the Belles of St Trinians?
