Main Street, Scholes - an old West Yorkshire Metropolitan County Council Public Footpath sign. Not sure how old, but definitely pre-1986...

I hope they retain it with whatever development it is going to be.     Passed the Albion today, and the "Albion" and "Warrington and Burton Ales" signs have gone. They may be away for refurbishment, but I wouldn't hold out too much hope.

A shame if the signs have gone for any ulterior reason Jim - is the Albion in use at all for anything - I've noticed from the Headingley train that it seemd to have new double glazed windows a while ago ??
There's nothing like keeping the past alive - it makes us relieved to reflect that any bad times have gone, and happy to relive all the joyful and fascinating experiences of our own and other folks' earlier days.

People are still working on it Blakey. A great deal has already been done, the interior was gutted back to the bricks, most of the outbuildings and chimney stacks demolished, and doorways bricked up with new entrances formed, but the work appears to be far from completion. No idea who or what kind of occupant is to be installed. I'll keep the thread informed and up to date.

G05JB10P00 One of the planning documents shows that the existing signage is to be retained, so let's hope it has just been removed for safety while the windows are being replaced. I always look out for the Albion when on the train, and would really miss the signage.http://plandocs.leeds.gov.uk/WAM/doc/Dr ... ageCount=1

Thanks for the info uncle mick and Tasa. Strange that the signage on the western side was taken down at the start of the work, and that at the front only this week. I'm also surprised that the large frontal Tetley picture displayed across the first and second floors is not mentioned or shown on the plan.

Funny, I heard the name Brian the Brush yesterday for the very first time while at work in Bradford, & now here it is again!
