I was down there today and I didn't see the entrance for the pillbox, nor manage to work out what or whom it was supposed to protect from what.I'm guessing it was entered from below-left as seen from the bottom? I also guess it could be somewhere to oversee blasting of the quarry from? This and the now-missing loopholes in the Kirkstall Forge wall are fast becoming a source of confusion to me.

As I remember, being a kid and sitting on the pill box roof, just about the whole area in front was roofed. Unless it was a previous quarry, prior to the canal being constructed, as the remaining 'face' is far too close to the canal. The quarry proper was, as mentioned on the Leeds side of Pollard Lane, below the Fallwoods football fields and the erection to load barges is still there on the side of the canal, very over grown now. I attempted to enter the quarry but gave up, due to over grown undergrowth and strange looks from dog walkers, glad I had my camera visible round my neck as an excuse for being there. !!
