This is from John Mayhall’s 'Annals of Yorkshire':-September 7 1868. “The lofty, spacious, and well-ventilated school buildings, erected in Wade Passage in connection with the Church of St. John the Evangelist, Mark Lane, Leeds, were opened. The cost of the buildings, including the land, was about £2,200”.I have not been able to readily find any current information that seems to be about the buildings so I assume they have been demolished, but I would be grateful to hear if anyone knows otherwise. In information that I have found it stated Wade Passage was a narrow street running from Wade Lane to Grove House Lane, crossing Coburg Street and Queen's Place and was demolished in the early 1960s as part of the development of the area for the Merrion Centre. Using an inflation calculator in the Bank of England website the £2,200 in 1868 was equivalent to about £204,116 in 2011 at an average inflation rate of 3.2% a year.

You're correct that the buildings have been demolished! You are looking at its former location on this Google Street View link:http://goo.gl/maps/FfImjI've found the location on Old Maps (this is from 1891). You can place the location of the school by relating it to the corner of Queen Square which appears to the left of the map:

There's a thread about this passage somewhere. The only evidence of it now is the angled wall at the back of the Yorkshire Bank. http://goo.gl/maps/xOjUM
