I only know them from my local vantage, Otley Old Rd/Farrar Ln junction. But these stations were not visible, rather just clouds, viewd L to R Drax>Eggbo>FerryB - I think.

Yes you are correct from the left its Drax, Eggborough and Ferrybridge, and just to the right of Eggborough to the left of the setting sun is Thorpe Marsh power station
Is this the end of the story ...or the beginning of a legend?

Here's a similar shot I got, the distance and angles sure distort thingsEmley Moor transmitter doesn't look far away from Leeds at all. I'm just wondering what housing it is I've marked, the chimney, and other towers. You should be able to see the full size photo herehttp://www.flickr.com/photos/phill_dvsn/794872 ... 20357@N25/

Can't open that flickr link Phill, it asks for yahoo id.Good pic and, as you say, distance, angles and 'depth of field' play around with one's spacial awareness.Where did you take it from ? or am I s'posed to tell youMy eyes were drawn mid-left to (I think) the Halifax Building on inner ring road, the new concert venue behind (?), tower block then a terrace leading up to a white building which I am trying to recall...

Oh, and I can't see your photo either Phill.Even when I logged on to Yahoo! - admittedly with a Google ID - it told me it was a private picture.Nevertheless, I will have a go at the chimney on the right of the photograph above the housing and say that it might be the Old Brickworks on the A650 between Gildersome and Drighlington. Similarly, the tower on the same level to the left might be one of the two constructions at the old gasworks site at Tingley. It is a bit disconcerting that Morley Town Hall, or either St Peter's and St Mary's in the Wood are not showing up.Maybe this is because the vantage point for the photo was on much higher ground than from where we normally see these three landmarks. The two items I have attempted to name are just about on the right 'flight-path' across the city from where (I would roughly estimate) you took the picture.

I think Phil took the photo very close to home, probably the top floor of a block of flats in the LS17/7 areaThe tower to the left is almost certainly one of two communnication towers in the vicinity of Tingley crossroads, the M62 and Dewsbury Road. This being the more substantial of the two http://goo.gl/maps/eL8TO as seen from the A650 Wakefield/Bradford Road. The nearer tower is probably Britannia(?) Mills Morley http://goo.gl/maps/JdBoZ , further up the A650, which would make the housing the bottom end of Morley (St George's Avenue off Churwell Hill/Elland Road and/or housing off the bottom of Middleton Lane). The far distance object is a bit obscured/feint but would be in the general direction of Castle Hill to the south-east of Huddersfield.
