Can anyone please identify the origin and spelling of what I believe is a slang word - the word is "KAYLIDE" - well that's what it sounds like, and it means sloshed, drunk, plastered etc etc. A friend is nattering me for an explanation of the word - why me I can't imagine because he is frequently the one so described - and how !!
There's nothing like keeping the past alive - it makes us relieved to reflect that any bad times have gone, and happy to relive all the joyful and fascinating experiences of our own and other folks' earlier days.

Hi Blakey,KALI was summat we used to have as kids.It was a fine sherbet powder which we'd often dunk a stick of spanish(liquorice stick) in !Quite where the transformation to also mean being plastered came in I'm not sure..... This delicacy was one of our spogs that we cherished most !

I've just rung my friend and explained, but I don't think its fully sunk in yet, or even partly, because last night's "keli" is till giving him a high reading on the "sherbetaliser" machine.

Sherbet was the white powder that we dipped liqueurish sticks in, the kayley was the multi coloured suger type stuff.
Is it me or has Leeds gone mad
