This is a related report in John Mayhall's 'Annals of Yorkshire' vol 3:-February 19 1867. "The extensive suite of baths and apartments erected in Cookridge Street, Leeds, through the public spirit and enterprise of the directors of the Oriental and General Bath Company of Leeds, Limited, at a cost of £13,000, being on the eve of completion, were opened to public inspection, and such was the interest taken in the undertaking that throughout the day there was a constant succession of visitors."Using an inflation calculator in the Bank of England website £13,000 in 1867 is equivalent to about £1,194,198 in 2011 at an average inflation rate of 3.1% a year.

I learned to swim at the municipal baths on Meanwood Road. The balcony was like the one in the picture above, boys had to get changed on the balcony when all the cubicals were full.
Is it me or has Leeds gone mad
