Leeds lost pubs

The P.O.W. was always ok,ish,though declined rapidly throughout the nineties.Hasn't changed too much internally.Spencers on the other hand is a total transformation from what was The Black Lion.Was very much a spit and sawdust type place with only Tetley bitter(beer side) on offer way back.....but boy,was it a mean pint late 70's early 80's.Scarboro' taps was itself,very run down throughout this same period only returning to (elitist) prominence relatively recently.All have suffered quite mixed fortunes in the intervening years.Personally,the Lion was always my favourite but I liked my pubs that way,back then.Much more atmosphere and full of characters.

Used to drink in the Black Lion back in the sixties, and a pint of Tet's was always good, handy for the bookies across the road to, a few pints, a bet and a game of darts in the small bar, happy days.

The Whinmoor at Swarcliffe is to reopen too.Someone's paid 50K for a 35 year lease, plans to turn it into a carvery and the place is being refurbished at the moment. I was wondering if anyone remembers the 'Dickie Bow Club' at the Moulders Arms in Leeds in the 1950's. My Grandad and Great Uncle were both members and i have no idea what it was all about!
