It's overlooked by the decrepit Odeon, but our farsighted council has wrapped it up in sheeting so as not to intrude on the view. We're told that the new pool will bring in over a million visitors a year. So, how many on this list have crossed the border to have a look? The only time I go to Bradford apart from work is to the Sheesh Mahal on Westgate! Best in Bradford IMO (and therefore the world)

I've just looked up Billy Liar in the Internet Movie Database website. I was amused (not sure quite why ) to read that it is known as "Billy il bugiardo" in Italy and as "O Mundo Fabuloso de Billy Liar" in Brazil. Though many of the cast are now dead at least Tom Courtenay is still active at 75 and Julie Christie at 71.

And Rodney Bewes is still alive. The classic line from Wilfred Pickles (Billy's dad) "why have you told Mrs so and so I've 'ad mi leg off?"It also has a classic appearance of the great Scottish actor Finlay Currie as Councillor Duxbury - Currie played Magwitch in David Lean's "Great Expectations" magnificently. There's also an appearance by Leonard Rossiter who was fairly unknown, I think he may also have been in "This Sporting Life"

My late grandad was a 'Finlay Currie' look-a-like. The scenes with 'Councillor Duxbury' where 'Billy' is talking to him on the moor tops really brings a tear to my eye as its just like seeing and hearing my grandad who passed away in the days before home video camcorders etc.

I know, someone on here once said that we tend to find stuff after it's happened. I only found it the day before.

All well and good but its only on for 20 mins per episode. So, by the time they've had a précis of the previous episode, and a hint of what's coming in the next one plus the who produced it, who abridged it for radio [= chops all the funny bit out] etc, etc, your left with about 14 mins of story [which is read by Stephen Tompkinson - who, if he was any more wooden, would be a chair!].I've set it to record but don't think I bother with the rest of it.
