It`s a scandal why this line was ever closed, think of all the places it served Wetherby, Collingham, Bardsey, Thorner, Scholes,Pendas Way, all within the commuter belt of Leeds. I would love to catch a train from Pendas Field to Leeds and beyond instead of having to drive to Crossgates station or catching the bus. If money can be found for high speed rail lines why can`t it be fond to reinstate these old lines, a major town like Ripon has no rail link at all, if the line was rebuilt trains could run to places like Middlesbourgh a shorter distance than the present route via York

While other cities get ahead, Leeds takes two steps back

Yes but that would be built on an existing busy rail line, all they need to build is a small station, tarmac for parking space isn't the most expensive thing is it? The line would pay for itself, the park and ride being an added source of income at little cost considering.

Last time i used the park and ride in York it was comaparably quicker and cheaper that driving into Leeds city centre.Leeds can learn a lot form York's park and ride scheme

While other cities get ahead, Leeds takes two steps back It's a sensible idea which would work, remove many cars from not only the city centre but other routes and provide employment for many - which is why it will never happen under the council we have in Leeds, despite it being talked about for the last 40 years....And the East Leeds Link Road (ELLR) is another nail in it's coffin as it would make any reinstatement costs even more prohibitive - although a forward thinking authority would see the ELLR as an idea opportunity to combine the two schemes at the point where it will cross York Road.
