The St John Fishers that Geldards serve is actually on the outskirts of Dewsbury not all that far from Dewsbury district hospital and is a large Roman Catholic school with pupils coming in from all points of the compass, we provide a service there that starts from Drighlington so it has a large catchment area and pupils travelling in from the York Rd area would not be beyond the realms of possability.Geldards are indeed based on Whitehall road in the industrial area that was once part of the Fireclay works and I believe ( through a source that drives for him ) that he is currently licenced for 35 operational vehicles but has many more than that sat in his yard in various states of dis-repair.He is well known for buying just about any old tat although I stress that this is for caniblising to keep his current fleet running, and he has more than his fair share of buses from us over the years, among some of the gems in his yard are a pair of ex London Route masters.

I'll vouch for the "quality" of bus to be wondered at upon it's many travels......beats me they pass all the tests etc.....I've seen some old duffers but these....well,they're different to many others.Don't know where they buy their cans of blue paint from though.

You just couldn't make this up!http://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/n ... -4643155So all the extended bus stops from Whimoor to Pudsey are now defunct! Because the double deckers are back. And the York FTR's are already running in Leeds. Hopefully the cost of sorting out the bus stops and where the 72 will terminate when these bendy buses are used will be sorted out. Remember the 72 starts in Leeds Bus station and ends in Bradford Bus station. Worst won't be able to use these with the purple slugs...It just makes me laugh at how stupid this would be...

I ought to say that this beggars belief, but being a "First" customer (passenger) I know to expect absolutely anything from ths outfit. I wonder if the chiefs who devised this farce will still boast that "each purple slug can hold over 100 people" when someone points out to them that only around 45 are lucky enough to sit down !!I understand from someone who works there that at the Leeds end the planes - yes planes, don't forget they are guided by pilots sitting in a flight deck - will turn right from the Headrow into Vicar Lane, left into Kirkgate/York Street and left again into St. Peter's Street and terminate in Eastgate. About the Bradford end I know nothing yet. All this twaddle in the YEP about "better service" is just exactly that - the ill conceived Ftrs have not worked and never will, and this is just a ruse to slip them in somewhere as they are not old enough or cheap enough to dispose of. I'd like to hear the opinions of the initial victims of this circus when fifty plus per plane have stood for most or all of their journeys !! Totally disgusting
There's nothing like keeping the past alive - it makes us relieved to reflect that any bad times have gone, and happy to relive all the joyful and fascinating experiences of our own and other folks' earlier days.

This thinly disguided Worst press release is typical of all that is rotten at the YEP nowadays. Instead of regurgitating the rubbish that they are being fed, the YEP "journalists" should be querying the blatant mis-truths.The York ftrs were withdrawn months ago as they were almost universally hated in York due to the lack of conductors (pay on entry at a machine) and their total unsuitability to the ancient city centre roads. This certainly isn't a "new superfleet" as they are trying to spin it - these buses are 5 or 6 years old at least. Why are the council "relaxed" about the hundreds of thousands of £'s of tax payers money spent on infrastructure for these buses when Worst now plan to use them on totally different routes?Lets also not forget that Worst only introduced the blasted things to put the skids under the East Leeds Supertram, which the then Labour Government had indicated it was about to approve - Worst deliberately undermined the scheme in order to protect the very lucrative 4/16 corridor into Leeds from the East, with these 'streetcars' for the very worst possible reasons. This sort of carry on is indicative of the reasons why Worst need to be stripped of their stranglehold on services in the city and why Metro needs to be replaced by a much more robust, fit for purpose public transport regulator.

Hear,Hear....very well put.First don't care about passenger comforts or anything connected. It's all a numbers game....pile them on a slug and get most money on best routes.Stuff the rest. The accountants and financial morons run these companies nowadays I'm afraid. And yes,Metro is a toothless non-entity in my opinion. If you complain about either Arriva or First, all they do is leave the "investigations" to the very company you are complaining about in the first place. How ridiculous is that ? No small wonder no progress is ever made on public transport issues.Metro and First-both unfit for purpose IMHO.
