A bit different today:http://goo.gl/maps/Bf3u At the risk of being horribly wrong, the bus is in Yorkshire Rider colours, which makes it post deregulation - so 1986 onwards? That is supported by one of the cars - just behind the blue Escort estate car is what appears to be a Mk IV Escort waiting to pull out of the junction - which again makes it 1986 or later. Finally having consulted a calendar, it seems that Saturday 9th September (as advertised for the flea market) would make this 1989! Excellent deductions Ravey, said with a tip of my hat to you

I'm even more confused, so the Swinegate tram sheds didn't front onto ...err.. Swinegate. Instead the Queens Hall did? And that it is bending round, crescent-style to the Mill Hill Rail bridge?

Well - it's definitely after 1986.... I've doubled checked the calendar and the only year where 9th and 10th September fell on a Saturday / Sunday was 1989:http://www.timeanddate.com/calendar/?ye ... untry=9And a quick Google reveals that the Queens Hall was demolished in 1989, so the caption on the pic must be wrong.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leeds_Tramway - "Queens Hall was the central tram shed, situated off Swinegate. This was used as a concert hall from the trams closure until 1989, when it was demolished".You had me worried then Phill!

The beer festival was definitely held at the Queen's Hall in 1988, I've still got the souvenir glass. So the pic which shows demolition apparently in 1986 must be wrongly dated.
The older I get, the better I was.
