My best advice to you Pablo is take a look at the old maps, it really is the only way to learn about these places that no longer existshttp://www.old-maps.co.uk/maps.htmlThat's how I do it, it's so much of a simplified way to see things exactly how they were in great detail. It gives you a far better idea what keywords to use in google search for the relevant photos you need later. If you try work things out for yourself, you find out you can answer your own questions far quicker than someone else can, plus you have the beauty of really understanding it. It's just my thoughts on the best way to learn about past history, if it makes you scratch your head and think real hard..then good, your learning and understanding it It's very much like asking a person directions when your lost, you remember the first street and first turn and the rest is blank, It doesn't sink in. That's how I think it feels when you ask instead of try to solve.

Not only can you find out exactly where places were, the amount of detail lets you see clearly how they worked, embankments, entrances, steps and subways are marked, the amount of detail is incredible, each individual room listed, even down to the railway track points and the smallest letter box on the platform. Maps...you simply can't beat em

pablo leeds wrote: i totally agree Phill. however, that site has not been my friend this week. are you using "enhanced zoom" there as mine has dissapeared with a useless 1-zoom magnifying glass cursor in it's place what year is that map? Yes I noticed the zoom feature isn't as good as it was recently. I don't know if it's a website glitch perhaps, but there are different year maps, some in very close detail and others giving a wider area. Using a few different years you should get all the info you need I think, I can use it ok like that. Plus you have image resizer, windows magnifying glass. It's just a case of getting a screen grab and improvise...

pablo leeds wrote: what year is that map by the way? best i've ever seen on old-maps to be honest. need to work out how you got it There is an 'all available maps'' box at the side of the main map you can scroll down, your spoilt for choice from 1850- present day. Each map box showing exactly how the full map looks for detail and clarity, and what year it's from. It's easy and quick to see which is the best year to pick in the area you want, different areas have different dated maps, what's good in one place is rubbish in another.
