This old house is getting shaky-but where?

Ain't gonna need this house no longer.Ain't gonna need this house no more! These two forgotten and unloved houses can only just be spotted around Leeds, another few years and Mother Nature will have reclaimed them for good. So before they vanish behind trees where in Leeds can they be seen?I've done two parts because I think one of them might be easy, and yes Tasa your definitely barred from this one

Yes spot on, well done again That's the one I thought would be the easier of the two.I wouldn't have known anything about the house if it wasn't for the old gate posts with the name 'Criffel' and 'House' inscribed on them.You had to search under trees to find the other one.That old house is one of the few reminders of a vast area that was swept away when the inner ring road was built. It's the only surviving building on Lofthouse Place.This is the 1920's and 1980's map to show how the area has changed and obliterated in the 1960's.Here's Criffel House in better days.http://www.leodis.net/display.aspx?reso ... AY=FULLThe rest of the street pictured here was flattened.Lower down Lofthouse Place and demolition is well under way.The other 'guess where' house is in that side of Leeds, It's just a case of guessing that one now!

Very nostalgic pictures indeed Phill of areas that I've long known very well. I often look back to those times and wish we still had them. OK, plumbing, electrics and "fresh air" certainly left much to be desired, but Society was far far more civilised and safe.Your little two line quotation gave me a shock too -"Ain't gonna need this house no longer.Ain't gonna need this house no more! "When I was doing my National Service "squarebashing" at Stalag 11 (RAF Hednesford, Staffs) in November and December 1954 Rosemary Clooney's record of "This ole house" was played incessantly over the Tannoy while we slaved away trying to keep the billet hut, and our kit, cleaner than the most forbidding hospital matron would have expected - and this after coming in from snow, ice and mud stained Camp roadways etc . Whoever the Station "disc jockey" was he had a very cruel sense of humour
