I'm sure I was living in Farsley at the time so it would have been on the local news. Thanks!Maybe I'll sleep better now haha. CaronThere are a few in the Britain. If you were Farsley then probs Yorks Post coverage of (what was) West End now deep beneath Thruscross Ressy. The haunting image that you may have seen is the half-submerged Church. The Church was emptied then submerged, but they later lowered the water and demolished it.Ironic really, West End was based on water powered mills via a network of Dams. Akeds (now breached)http://g.co/maps/9h6v3 , Harrys just downstream http://g.co/maps/aggqq . There were then others which are now under water and only seen at drought.Researching the area is what brought me to join SL. Dipped in and looked at it for years. There is a thread here all about it, including some photos http://www.secretleeds.com/forum/Messag ... ht=1.Books, if you want a look at the sunken village then best bet is vols 1&2 of same, 'Washburn Valley Yesterday' by David Alred. Out of print but up 2nd hand on amazon.
