There's a special Easter Fun Day at Thwaite Mills on Sunday.http://www.leeds.gov.uk/thwaiteMills/Th ... n.aspxBoat trips provided by Safe Anchor Trusthttp://www.safeanchor.org.ukYours truly will be there from 12 noon onwards acting as one of skippers on the boats - come and make yourselves known - I'm the guy with the brown leather brimmed hat. Check the museum website for times and admission charges. We have covered Thwaite Mills on this forum fairly recently. Well worth a visit.

(apart from a slap ) "Ner cast a clout 'til May is out".I always understood it to mean - Keep wearing the same winter clothes (clout) til the weather improves in May. I think it's a Norse word. Isn't it supposed to mean ne'er cast a clout until the May blossom is out?

I've always taken it to mean until May is out ie over, that is, the start of June.

Made me smile too I looked up "clout" and they say it's old english meaning a piece of metal or cloth.I asked cos my mam wouldn't let us (as kids) go without our vests until end of May. I wondered if clout meant vest.Never too old to learn and this site is teaching me plenty. Thanks!
