Shame I never used a camera there but I suppose it's a common thing of not photographing places you know well and also when it was still a time (and was for many years to come) that you were limited to the few photos that could be taken on a roll of film that had to be subsequently developed (mostly at a chemist). That will seem antiquated to many with today's tiny discs that can have hundreds of photos on them taken with a digital camera or mobile phone. With the ease now of taking photos it would seem likely that very few places or objects will not have very many photos taken (and hopefully at least some printed so that there is a hard copy for the future).

I took this photo today (April 3 2012) of a possibly old 'Queens Hotel Car Park' sign that was at the end of the first tunnel on the right on Neville Street (coming from City Square). It was the first time I've ever been in that tunnel. Peeking through a gap in the metal door frame I saw a narrow passage leading off that is presumably part of the Queens Hotel. I like the font style seen in the photo. Part of the sign looks like it has been painted over. I wonder if the sign is quite old or just a newish one? PS. I also like the tunnel brickwork seen.

I thought I would add this photo I took today of the view in the tunnel taken from near the Queens Hotel Car Park sign looking towards Neville Street.

I think the sign is relatively recent, Leodian. It's a well used Art Deco font. If it was a real 1930s sign, at that size it would have been hand-painted. It looks too regular for that. For example, the repeated letters are absolutely identical, and the limbs of the K flare slightly, indicating a "designed" type-face. Hope that makes sense!PS I wonder what it said under the painted-over part at the top?

Looks a bit 80"s to me so getting into yesteryear.
