Afternoon all. I've joined this forum because it clearly is the best source of virtually any info on our great city you could ask for. Not that I don't enjoy a good chinwag about lots of things but I've visited this site a fair few times over the last few months mainly for bits of research for projects I'm involved with. I just wish I'd known about this place years before, it would probably have saved me a lot of time AND embarrassment whenever I've got my facts wrong :lol:Anyway, I'm not normally such a noxy person but as I've got a few projects on the go at the same time, I hope no one minds me asking a load of questions. I'm born, bred and still live in Leeds and as that bespectacled genius Elvis Costello once sang, My aim is True Nopw to get trawling through the Tunnels thread, I've only just noticed it!

If this is turning into a band name thread, how about the so politically incorrect - but it didn't exist then anyway - 'Dead Kennedys', or to bring us more up to date 'Pulled apart by Horses'.Just heard of the next one but I like the sound of the imaginatively named 'Bullet for my Valentine'. They are one of the bands at this years Leeds Festival. As they say, keep it Leeds.

Thanks I will take a look around it and get back to you next year some time Incidentally, could anyone recommend the best online resource for Leeds stories from the 1960s, primarily involving true crime etc? I've been fascinated by stories from some of the former Bobbies on here too, and funnily enough I was speaking with a mate only yesterday (at the Leeds West Ham game) about Ray Winstone who is a Hammers fan and who mentioned in an interview a Leeds story., about the terrible killing of Sgt John speed. Apparently an eyewitness claimed the murderer looked like Winstone - who wasn't anywhere near Leeds at the time - and so RW was picked up from his London abode and taken in for questioning. I'd always believed this to be a myth but RW mentioned it in interview not so long ago, possibly with Jonathan Ross. Very odd eh!
