In modern terms, elland road is an expensive place to go and be uncomfortable. It's along time ago, sometime in the late 70s, but I remember going to the rugby ground for the official reception of the players after winng the Challlenge cup. The then captain who's name I've forgotten (dickinson?) Had the cup on the back of his Ford Fiesta. Very dented it was. Somewhere I've got all there autographs. Stopped wathing rugby whe I had ti pay to get in.

People do not attend for various reasons The "QUEER AS FOLK" being a reference to Mr.K.Bates of course, less post be misunderstood................cheers

This link should give an indication of the sort of bloke he was and why he is popular on the after dinner speech circuit these days.As far as I know he still lives in the Bramley area. I don't think he's still driving that Ford Fiesta though Cardi. http://tinyurl.com/7wx6t62The link also illustrates the huge gulf between rugby league and top level football back in the 70/80s. JD
