I have sample illustrations, maps and details in pdf format if someone can explain how, I will gladly post them. You will not be able to post *.PDF files, and *.JPG are problematic. If you have lots of files it would be better to host them on your own website, most/all internet providers allow some web space. If you wish to show a number of pictures, it might be easier to use Flickr: www.flickr.com and just post up the links.

Thanks for that,I don't have a website, and everything else you suggest looks very complicated. Dyslexia may seem like an inconvenience to you, but to me it looks like Dailysex.I have learnt how to use Facebook, (or at least my wife shows me how to use it) so I have put some pages in a photo album. I am not sure it's the best way to communicate drawings, but it's what I understand. To find me on Facebook I think you seach for Ken Cross -Warrington.

I don't think you could be more wrong with your thoughts about Brunel - I can see he is trying to be constructive - this site doesn't always lend itself to the simple end of technology. What Brunel is trying to get across I think, is that this site only allows pictures to be uploaded directly when saved in jpeg format. An alternative is to keep them on another site (such as a flickr account) to which you can then link your messages here by including the url (address) for each picture. If you can get to that point, I'm sure people here will be very happy to help you learn how to add the links into a short message

I understand that Brunel, and everyone else, is trying to be helpfull and constructive, for which I have always expressed thanks. I am sorry if my comments were interpreted otherwise. I was initially attracted to this site because everyone seems to be positive and very knowledgeable. My wife got me into Facebook, and Secret Leeds, after I had spent several hours trying to understand how they worked.I know it's difficult for others to understand but I don't have (or want) a website, and I don't have (or want) a flickr account because I find them confusing and overwhelming. I therefore accept that I cannot share my pictures etc with anyone. I will of course continue to contribute via messages.

"I therefore accept that I cannot share my pictures etc with anyone." I fully empathise with your predicament, there are ways round this.If you are able to post pictures via e-mail, I can enable a Flickr account for you, and all you will have to do is to send your pictures, with any information to the associated e-mail address.I can post up the links etc.

warringtonrhino wrote: Thanks for that; 1. If coal was found by trial and error, are there several failed bell pit attempts? 2. I got into this forum after following a thread on Mathers Leat, it is something I have been investigating for many years 1. I assume so, however the seams in East Leeds are extensive and near the surface so you could not really fail. If you check the Tithe map you can trace where the bell pits were by wyke Beck that I assume were dug for domestic coal and possibly iron smelting? I am in north west Leeds where the coal is a different seam and probably that bit harder to locate. Most bell pits were filled in, there is one that still shows remains in Horsforth which also was a pit that collapsed and killed the miner leasing it.2. This is a puzzle that still evades a solution. The area of the dam I'm certain of and the beck is artificially straightened and has an old weir in it from Foxwood on where the bloomery cinders were dumped nearby. I assumed there was a iron bloomery mill on the beck, but it may have been a corn mill which left a hole in my Seacroft Iron research I can't fill. The "leat" is very puzzling as well. Maps are unclear what is a watercourse and what is a field boundary, and why cut a watercourse when the beck itself can provide the water power?Anyway do share anything you have with us. I was born and raised in Seacroft.

Thanks Brunel,I have added my email address to my profile so anyone who is interested can find me. I would like to be able to contribute to the group, if you have the time to help me. if you do give me any instruction it's best not to take anything for granted. You do not want to know how long it took me to find the 'return' key!! I now know that return is spelt E,N,T,E,R.I must be the only person on the planet who calls it the 'enter' key, when giving instructions.some of my maps are .dwg files, most of my illustrations diagrams and maps are .jpeg and the text pages are microsoft word .doc files. I prefer to convert to .pdf before sharing them.I am happy to put them on Facebook, or e,mail them to individuals who might be interested, or any other route you can assist me with.I once had a document several pages long, stolen by a Yahoo member, who put it on his website, claiming that he was the author. so now I am cautious and only share .pdf files.
