Wellington Station, entrance help?

Here's another view to give a better sense of perspective where it was in relation to City square. I think you will find it was the original Queens Hotel (the first one built in 1863)

This photo shows your building nicely.This photo was taken on the 14th April 1897, It shows the construction of City Square. Leeds was given the status of City by Queen Victoria in 1893, it was then decided to build the square. City Square was officially opened on 16th September 1903.In the back ground of this view is the original Queens Hotel, designed by William Belton Perkin for the Midland Railway, it opened in 1863. Extensions were added in 1867 and 1898. It was replaced by the present building which opened in 1936. Bishopgate Street is on the left and the entrance to the station on the right.

ah thanks phill. the map seems to show the queens hotel at the wrong angle stretching down bishopgate , instread of across wellington street

very true. do you think the naked lady statues are the exact same ones or replicas as they seem to have been mounted on some brickwork and higher off the ground ?

All the statues in City Square except the Black Prince were moved during the alterations to the area and its road system, and replaced in a different layout. This has led to the apparent difference in the appearance of the ladies in question. I can't remember the date of the alterations, but would guess sometime in the 1970s
