1964 map of the areaI recall going into that building when it was an auction house many years ago

I believe it was once indeed home to one of the many clothing manufacturers who graced that area. Many years ago I used to deal with Stonelea Clothes in that building.

The building on the the left is now called Munro House, West Yorkshire Arts Marketing are based there, the Wardrobe venue and Yorkshire Dance Studios are at this location. Between 1906-1917 it was used by Coss and Morris, clothing manufacturers. Then Hirst and Thackray raincoat makers were there from around 1917-1924. Another clothing concern, Frazer Brothers, used part of the building between 1915-1936.

From memory -The missing bit was empty for several years and I think had tobe demolished for safety reasons.Bushes were growing out of the brickwork,and I think muchof the roof had gone.Coss and Morris and Bejamin Simon(both tailors were there).The Red ladder Theatre Company was also in the 'missing bit'

I had not realised that Marsh Lane Station and Marsh Lane Goods Station were still there in 1964. I have a vague recollection of the goods yard but none of the station. The vacant area on York Street seems to be the part marked as a Warehouse on the map.Thanks dogduke and grumpybloke for your help.

They've added extra to it and secured it's street level footprint.Would've made a cool city-centre pad.

There seems to have been little obvious change to the vacant area since I took the photos on February 7 2012 that I used to start this thread on February 8 2012, as seen in the following 2 photos that I took on December 10 2019. The first is a view across York Street, Leeds. I took the second one from York Street holding my camera through a gap in the gates while trying to avoid not being hit too hard by the wind blowing the gates!
