I try and close mine off when sort of done, like the first pub on the left out of city square>Well st>Kirk Rd. Visiting Roman Dig this Friday morn 0900 Adel Dam 'entrance seat'. Will have badge marked jogon. Short trip should be done by 1030.

Hi Chameleon.Two recentish threads of mine that have a green tick meaning "Thread is marked 'done' by thread starter or support team" are my 'Small unnamed yard off Central Road near Duncan Street' (posted January 6 2012) and my 'Roads in the centre of Leeds on a Google map confused me!' (posted September 28 2011). The first of those was presumably marked 'done' by the support team as it was considered to be nothing more than a back yard to premises and so of no further interest. The second one was presumably also marked 'done' as also being of no further interest. I have had other recentish posts marked 'done' but they were of very short term news. I've never closed a thread of mine.I thought a 'done' green tick thread meant that reponses can no longer be posted but I have now found out that posts can still be made. Confusing!

I was actually looking for the latter of the two you mention but failed totally to find it, to refer a poster to the information! Yes a done thread accepts posts and reopens thud my comment above of 'little point'.Sometimes threads which are found which are inactive, attracted no interest and/or are of little relevance to the site aims and stand being deleted to preserve space - but are few and far between. Post to reopen if theree is something new to add.

leo All that I can find is that the area you refer to was once part of the Eddison estate that dates from 1845. Don't know if that is local landowner, part of the break up of Cookridge Hall Estate etc.The area was not part of the pleasure park nor was it ever used as a park-keepers cottage as the site in question didn’t become part of the Golden Acre Park Estate until 1982.The ‘Bungalow’ was a wooden hut with its own well but no mains supply until around the 1960’s. That is all I've got, and cannot find an image of it. [philld?]

Thanks for that information Jogon.No doubt the well is still there but (hopefully!) safely covered, unless it was filled in. I wonder if the mention of a 'Pump' on the old maps was the well?

At the edge of the wood/site of bungalow there is a sort of concrete block which may be well/pump cap.If you do visit, take some cat treats for 'Max'..

I had a walk in Golden Acre Park today and went to the area where I thought the cottage may have been but I did not see anything that looked like the remains of any building nor structure. I'm guessing the site was well cleared or any remaining bricks/stones are now buried. As I did not see the concrete block I wonder though if I was in the right spot.The photo (taken today) shows Max sunning itself.

He looks very comfortable - he clearly made a special effort to lift his head to pose for you A friend of mine was a colleague of his previous owner, who accepted after Max's second abscondment that he preferred life in Golden Acre Park!

Used to just go to Golden A.Now I've to find the Cosmic Catnip (Sainsb'y Homebase:- use sparingly..) and Dreamies kitty treats. Seen here sharing a blink.
