There's nothing like keeping the past alive - it makes us relieved to reflect that any bad times have gone, and happy to relive all the joyful and fascinating experiences of our own and other folks' earlier days.

There certainly used to be a branch in Morley and at the top of the window were lists of other sites.Didn't they used to be based in Guiseley? To get back to Cashdishia, a thought keeps running through my mind that Cashdishia were owned by the family of Tory MP Bill Cash - or have I dreamed this - can't find any link on line.

Greenwoods still have over 50 stores within 100 miles of Leeds but Majors Wakey store is now the nearest. The 50 seems to be an imposed limit rather than the exhausted limit http://www.greenwoodsonline.com/storelo ... stance=100

Edit | Quote I recall going to Cashdisia for my Leeds Boys Modern School uniform in the 1940s and being served by a helpful and efficient lady who sadly had two huge protruding front teeth. Next year when we had to replace clothing, this lady had had her teeth fixed and she looked very attractive,-------- and I was only 13 at the time! I went to Central High and my mum got all my school gear (uniform, sportswear etc.) from Rawcliffe's who I think were the official, and probably, only stockists.I remember Cashdisia used to make and sell sew-in name tags for clothing items - necessary when everyone was wearing the same uniforms! I still had my school cap when I left and thought I still had it, but I could not find it when I checked around a few years back so I must have thrown it away at some stage. her teeth fixed and she looked very attractive,-------- and I was only 13 at the time! Derek T Top Rawcliffes moved from Boar Lane and for a period were up near/part of? Great Clothes /York Road.I visited both for my kids and at York Rd chatted with the (same) lady who'd worked at Boar Ln. I said I missed the light oak + glass counters with the slide out drawers & she showed me they were the same but re-clad to 'look modern'.The 'Rawcliffes' name has presumably been bought and understand they are currently up at Oakwood on (what I'd call) the modern parade where Gino's Hairdresser kicked off. I don't think they were very good. Obviously better at selling clothes!
