It is reported on the BBC text service that the fire service was called at 5:00 yesterday morning to a fire at the Home Farm at Templenewsam. Many creatures were saved but a total of 34 animals and birds are reported to have died which comprised 2 sows, 16 piglets, 14 rabbits and 2 chicks.. The farm is closed until further notice while an investigation into the cause of the fire is being taken. This is the second fire this year at the farm as there was one earlier this year. Edit added around 13:24. I've just found there is a report (with a short video) on the fire in the YEP website. This is the link to that http://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/n ... _1_3993771

They have no respect for other people/ beings/ themselves so surely to deny them the right to be on this earth is the right thing to do? - Same with that burglar that broke into a house in the stainburns with absolute disregard for the occupants and showed absolutely no remorse at all!

Edit | Quote If i remember from January 2011, 2 lads were caught and accused after someone snitched on them however due to a good solicitor they were both let off on a technicality, the case was dropped.Lets wait to see what the investigation brings to light, anyone want to have a bet, I say it was intentional and not some electircal fault. It is a shame as this place is heaven for young children as it allows them to see farm animals up close and in safety, my kids loved this place and it was a place we visitied regularly for many years. chemimikeUser Location: readingJoined on: 14-Mar-2008 23:53:48Posted: 129 posts # Posted on: 25-Nov-2011 09:53:36. Me too cnosni.Unfortunately, if it was a malicious act and those responsible are caught, the hands of the police, and the judiciary, are tied by weak and outdated laws and clever solicitors who view the whole thing as a game.Lets hope the planner election of a Police Commissioner next year sees moves to redress the balance between right and wrong. My only concerns is the likely calibre of the candidates. We need a Bill Braxton - we're more likely to get another flaky career politician.

The YEP today (Nov 26 2011) reports that Home Farm reopens today and that "Entry has been cut to £1 for adults and 50p for children". Hopefully it will not be subjected again to arson (if that is what it was) but sadly I have my doubts.
