Thanks Chameleon. The addresses I've used are the ones which they've been using to communicate with the moderators, so I think they're current. I haven't got a bounced message yet so I'll wait and see if I get a reply. If not, I'll certainly take you up on your offer, thanks. My reason for suggesting it as a new section is that if people put their research material in separate threads under General Chat, they will get separated and lost (if the search function was better, this wouldn't be such an issue provided that the links were clearly described in the text of the thread). I was suggesting a general "dumping ground" of anything which people thought might be of interest to others - literally like a library where you can browse, or bookmark the links of interest to you. I realise that we could have one thread (such as this one) in General Chat, but unless it's pinned to the top of the section, it will drop off the list of active threads after a couple of days. I don't really have a personal preference whether it goes under General Chat or another section as long as it's permanently visible from the front page.I've now realised that I've diverted this thread completely so will wait and see what happens

Yes, good idea to have a dedicated thread (I did wonder if technical issues might prevent a new section from being added as I know tech support has been a problem in the past).Yes, my email address is the same as the one which was sent to all moderators when they were "volunteered" Going out for the day now, so won't be able to reply to anything you send, and am happy for you to remove this exchange to get the thread back on track!

I would like to add my vote to those who would like a new section with the title "Resources" or similar, which could cover the entire field. There could be threads for maps, reference works, local history groups, and much more. What do others think? Is it achievable? As an alternative, might an existing section have it's definition "stretched" to include the subject?

I think we've all see how things get stretched, and lost within the vastness of Secret Leeds Jim. I agree with you if at all possible to keep reference material altogether, and in a good order P.s.. Like Tasa and Chameleon have said, these 'research related' posts are best deleted from this thread when (if) a new section gets sorted out.

To get things going before more disapears into the depths of the site I've created a thread in General Chat for this.I think it is important that it is reserved for its purpose and that unnecessary messages etc., are avoided within itWho's going to be first to add something...... http://www.secretleeds.co.uk/forum/Mess ... eadID=3328
