I think there was a clothing factory (maybe called Browns) in the 50's siuated just before Meanwood Road. Just below the large building at the start of Sott Hall Road, there used to be an alley that lead to Meanwood Road. Locally it was known as 'Stinking Alley' due to the smell coming from the adjoining leather works. The Scott Hall Road entrance seems to be sealed off now. I'm always looking for places of interest to visit when I come to Leeds for the day with my brother-in-law from Northallerton and this is just such a location. An other is the railway line that runs through a cemetry opposite the bus station. Hi Alan. I made a mention, and posted a few photos of the 'stinking ally' and Leather works near the top of this post I made a while backhttp://www.secretleeds.co.uk/forum/Messages.aspx?ThreadID=2958 It's about the third photo onwards.

The area where the fire-ravaged building was has been cleared so well there is little sign now that there ever were any buildings there. I wonder what will be built? Talking of mill blazes it seems that a fire yesterday at the historic St Ann's Mill area in Kirkstall was thankfully not at the main building (see the 'St Ann's Mill on fire' thread).
