I've just come across this unknown Leeds location on this flickr photograph here http://snipurl.com/27nrexI was wondering if anyone can confirm where it is? The poster seems to think it could be around the Chapletown Road/Roundhay Road area. But I have the feeling the building in the distance could be Leek Street flats, which would place this somewhere around the Hunslet Road area? I can only recall this location in the late 70's, so much of it was demolished by then. Any ideas?

carith wrote: Hi Phill, could this be waterloo Road Hunslet with the junction of Joseph Street at the far side of the bus Hi Carith.Well that's the area I'm thinking it is. But I can only recall the land behind the bus when it was waste ground. Sometime late 70's when those buildings had been flattened?

Now then, a quick search on Leodis gives us this view. Those old buildings match up on both photos? The photo and description is on Leodis herehttp://www.leodis.net/display.aspx?resourceIde ... SPLAY=FULL

The new (then) Leek Street flats (sorry Hunslet Grange) in the background if that helps confirm it ??
There's nothing like keeping the past alive - it makes us relieved to reflect that any bad times have gone, and happy to relive all the joyful and fascinating experiences of our own and other folks' earlier days.

Thanks Blakey kango wrote: I would hazard a guess at this being Church street Hunslet, the shop at the rear of the bus looks like Beethams pawn shop if so then it's Church st, does the 21 Belle Isle destination board offer a clue? I think Hunslet lad Tilly might have the answer for this one. Thanks Kango.I know the number 21 definitely went down Hunslet Road in the 1970's. If I recall correctly the 10, 19 and 21 all ran down that way from North Leeds.

The bus has Hunslet grange to it's right which means that Balm rd is the next left turn the bus will take to Belle Isle, also, daft as it it sounds, I recognise the lay by/pull in the bus is passing as being the one next to the church. The bus is approaching what is now the group of traffic lights at the bottom of Balm road with Morrisons lidl etc off to the right. The only thing thats puzzling Me it that the flats seem a long way away I recall them being somewhat closer.Enter Tilly to tell Me what a berk I am!!!

This is Waterloo Road just before its junction with Church Street, the street off to the left looking at Leek Street is Jack Lane. The bus is outside of the Library. The attached pic (click on cross if needs be) shows the junction more clearly and you can see the two tone green building and white chimney on both pics (although one is black and white)
