During 1967-1969 I was what everyone called a Rocker, we used to go around on our Triumphs, Nortons and many other modified bikes, in the Seacroft AreaWe mainly used to meet in the Sovereign Pub at Seacroft Centre and occasionally go down to Sherburn Café.Weekends out at Scarborough where we used to laugh at the Mods.I think we were harmless enough, never got into any major scrapes, well apart from the odd falling off, or a crashApart from Mods and Rockers there were only the Teddy Boys about and they used to hang about in the Wilsons Arms
Is this the end of the story ...or the beginning of a legend?

Just seen the Teds link phil it was like all our yesterdays to me, I had the great pleasure of knocking around with some of these guys in the 70's for a short while. the rock and roll club at the viaduct, Thursday nights at Huddersfield to see bands like Gena and the rocking rebels and Sunday at the Gaiety to watch whoever, Phoenix springs to mind. A bit of a shocker when a chunk of Your past catches up with You!!Nice find phil.Regards Kango

I suppose the modern equivalent now are the shops around the Corn Exchange and Kirkgate catering for Leeds alternative scene?

I remember a Beetham's junk/pawnbrokers shop near the junction of Elland Road/Beeston Road/Meadow Road. I wonder if it was the same firm?

It was indeed Jim one in Hunslet as well, I once had a pair of shoes from the Hunslet branch, left them near the warm fireplace and when I came to put them on the soles fell off!!Regards Kango

Oh yeah. I forgot about those printed T shirts. They smelt nice when they were hot, and first pressed. They were on sale everywhere in the late 70's. It's a shame to see the Merrion market the way it is today. There used to be loads of good knick knac shops in there.      and a decent vinyl record vendor.Spent loads on jap import singles and albums in there.

Slightly off topic, but talking of decent vinyl record vendors, what happened to Kennedy's that used to be along the side of Kirkgate market?
