I've just seen somones status on facebook saying there's just been a mini earthquake in Yeadon? I certainly felt a bit of a rumble half hour ago. That would be about 9pm (ish) tonight. Anyone else anything?

Wow I wondered about that as at 21:03 I heard and felt a loud rumble. I've been trying to get on the British Geoological Service earthquake alerts page since but have not been able to get onto the site.

I tried to amend the time on my first post but must have sent in a new post in error.

Yes i'm sure we had a bit of a tremor, no doubt news sources will confirm in a bit if so. No chance therefore that the YEP will report it in tomorrow's edition! If it was an earthquake (which I suspect it was) then unless it was very local the strength I felt would imply it was a very large event somewhere. If it was it is also the first earthquake I've ever been aware of.

At magnitude 3.7 it is smallish in World terms but is large for this region. Its epicentre seems to be near Leeds so it is no surprise that it was very noticeable at 21:03 when I felt and heard the rumble.

There is a map of the area where it was felt on the Sky News page, suggesting the epicentre was under the North Sea.
