Rich, you must have seen the infamous clip of a series 1 Landy leaving an X5 for dead on a muddy field!.Mum had a Citroen GS- horribly underpowered, [edited for content] heater ( a theme here) and a suspension sytem second to none!.Move to top position, skinny tyres as well, never got stuck either. My Defender has had great fun pulling BMs out....

My mountain bike had no problems getting about last week, if you stop making progress you can just get off and walk!Left the Vectra at home sensibly, but even the 36 got through be it a tad (2 hours) late last week. My old Volvo 244 was brilliant in the snow, so heavy it never got stuck.I think the problems are that more recent drivers aren't used to driving in these conditions.I'm waiting for a good thaw before I even attempt to cycle along the canal, so am braving the potholes along Kirkstall Road.
I like work. I can watch it for hours.

I wonder if any of the potholes drop into the legendary Kirkstall Abbey tunnel.

Slipped earlier on outside of where Iceland/Nettos is, the pavement and their carpark there are like glass now.Nothing damaged but I fell pretty hard and i think concussed myself a bit, and it's going to hurt in the morning

When I was out locally (Alwoodley) around 14:00 I noticed that where the snow had been packed on pavements it was much slippier than it has been. I nearly slipped a few times when I had to walk off the snow free edges of roads.

The pavements everywhere are treacherous now the snow has been packed down by footfall and repeatedly frozen. We're due a bit of a mini-heatwave Thurs / Fri this week (temperatures as high as +4 degrees C!!!!), so hopefully that will help things, but with the ground being so cold, who knows?

Some of the footpaths in Leeds are incredibly dangerous - so bad you have to hold onto the wall to stand up. Since there appears to be no shortage of salt could the council spread some on the footpaths.

All the grit bins around here are empty - although some people seem to have paths and drives that have a very generous covering of the stuff. I doubt another bout of snowfall like last weeks could touch them now.Almost as selfish as the chap who has cleared his own drive and has piled all the snow from it on the footpath either side of his gate (in piles up to waist high) , blocking it for all but the brave and able bodied.
