In another thread (The oldest Church in Leeds) I gave this link http://www.leeds.gov.uk/maps/leeds_wb.html I thought it may be useful if I started a thread about that map rather than put it in 'The oldest Church in Leeds' thread, as it is more relevant to Leeds in general. I have put this under General Chat as I was unsure where to put it (only clean replies to that please ).I've just been looking at some of the information brought up through the UDP Maps link in that Leeds Metropolitan Ward Boundaries webpage. The 'Volume one (written statement)' brought up through the UDP Maps link has some interesting information (admittedly at July 2006 it may or may not be current). Beware however that the pdf brought up is 457 pages and took a while to download on my PC. I was amused to read under the City Centre report "The City Centre is the focal point of the whole District. The continued wellbeing and prosperity of the City Centre is crucial to the economic health of the whole City. Its attractiveness and good environment are important for the quality of life of people who live and work in and visit the District, for the image of the whole District and to attract further investment to the District. The City Centre is also the transport hub of the City, and continued good accessibility into and around the City Centre is fundamental to the functioning of the District as a whole". The final sentence made me .

I remember when they reorganised the boundaries and some wag wrote into the YEP to suggest the area should be called 'Greater Horsforth'.

If we asked them to box the compass, do you think they'd bring a packing case?
