Looking for a thread that 'Sticks' started re the German Market.where did it go ?Anyway - combined a visit tonight with hospital visiting.Be CAREFUL WHERE YOU PARK.6.45 pm on a Sunday night and the Traffic Wardens' were dishing out tickets to cars parked in loading bay at the side of the Civic Hall oppsite the LGI and people parked on poorly signed Disabilty Parking only higher up the road.

I went by the German Market in the early p.m. today and there were very many people there. Mind you, the centre of Leeds was also very busy. Christmas must be coming!

They've been working Sundays for a good few years now but, if people don't park where there re restrictions they won't have a problem but, I thought they clocked-off at 6.00pm - maybe they are extended to take advantage of the Christmas periodWandered through the other day briefly, apart from tha stalls being in a different order, it is mush the same as every year. Don't you find it rather pricey too, especially the confetionary?    Popular topic every yaer but don't recall a recent thread and nothing in the history btw.

We parked in the Rose Bowl car park.Good that it was free, though a bit dismayed to know when December comes you have to pay there on a Sunday. - Talk about taking advantage of Christmas - humbugs!

Regarding missing threads - I've noticed this a few times recently - my concern is about the safety of the postings on this forum. I think it is an invaluble resource for future historians but I'm curious about the retention and archiving of the postings. If Leeds Council cut the funding would all the information on this forum be lost? I did a search for STICKS German Market thread on Google which was indexed but could not find it here when I clicked on the link e.g.http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/s ... et&ct=clnk(Have to copy and paste)( I searched google on "secret leeds Leeds Hippo german market" and clicked on the cached link)

Surely 46 years is long enough even for Leeds.Spent on "Preparatory works" for the Supertram, perchance?
We wanted to make Leeds a better place for the future - but we're losing it. The tide is going out beneath our feet.

Where did it go?     There are three occassions where threads/posts are removed - Where an item has received no response and contains only information already held in other threads, to conserve space - storage is expensive and not unlimited.Where the content breaches the requirements set down by the site AdministratorsorWhen the originator specifically request this be done.If the posts fell into any of the above, the instruction is to lock or delete as seems most appropriate. Other than when the server thows one of its proverbial wobbleys on us I can offer no other explanaition.

I am also puzzled by another strange happening swhich maybe you could explain? Yesterday, whilst looking for the thread, Famous sons, I noticed that the quote prompt had disappeared from the pages which meant of course thatI couldn't post any comments to any threads, so decided not to bother. It then reappeared some time later and I was then able to post the above comment. I noticed today again when I wanted to post a reply to your explanation, the quote prompt was not there so in order to post this I have had to log on again even though I've not logged off at any time. Hope you can understand this and perhaps explain wht this happens?
