I've used GC from time to time, and have no complaints. I'm no train fanatic, but as far as I can see they're trying to step up and provide a real alternative for customers from smaller West Yorkshire towns and probably not receiving the support they should get. It can't be no cheap or easy task to set up a new rail company.

Thinking this prompted worthwhile talk about transport and is probably worth being moved into that forum for future ease of finding

One thing is pretty certain, the likes of Jim and myself andpossibly some other members is that Grand Central is not a choicefor us - they don't honour our free rail passes. When we asked for pay rises years ago we were always told the free travel was part of our wages, working the hours that many of us did we only got to spend it once a year,if that.Still - I wish GC the best of luck,I know one or two people involvedin setting the business up - very difficult compared to just bidding for an established and profitable franchise such as GNER.I have no real moan about GNER,the state of their parent Companywas their downfall. They are after all bringing a rail link to places that have not existed since the Beeching area, that takes guts !Staff on the ground at main centres is a must though. They lose this cross business link by not being ATOC members whodo or did in my day approach other companies on behalf of delayed passengers(nearly said customers !) A steep learning curve but I hope they survive.
