Hi simonm I would love to know if Ringtons is the oldest mobile company still tradeing in this country lets see if i get a response. I don't know whether we'll ever get a definitive answer to your question, as companies like Betterware and Kleeneeze are still active, although I suspect they're franchises now, rather than in their original form. Hats off to Ringtons, though, still thriving and expanding.Greetings again, 'arry 'awk! Liked your description of the Trojan van engine note - accurate as always! Good job they didn't have far to go! In a bottle with a picture of a highland soldier in a kilt with an Indian (sikh?) soldier with a tray of coffee stood outside a tent which had a flag on top with the legend "ready, aye ready"My dad used to have it in his flask. Coffee and rum was apparently something textile workers used to drink on cold mornings before going to work!We used to buy stuff like Camp Coffee, tea, biscuits etc from our local co-op branch. My mam would send me on a Friday with a list and the money, with instructions not to bring back any Co-op "own brand" stuff. One such was "Shieldhall" the Co-op's own coffee and chicory essence. I was once foolish enough to bring this stuff back when they'd run out of Camp and I got my ear warmed for my trouble

I noticed recently that Rington's tea is delivered in Volkswagen CADDY vans! I wonder if they did that on purpose? When I was a lad in Tinshill in the early / mid sixties I think two mobile shops came around, the Co-op and another one whose name I am not sure of but it may have been Hilton's. I can still remember the Co-op divvy number!
