Thanks dogduke - good advice and I always do have some, as well as being quite a keen listener to Radios 2 and 4, and to the great Classic FM - all of which I find presented by amiable modest folk who "know what they're about."
There's nothing like keeping the past alive - it makes us relieved to reflect that any bad times have gone, and happy to relive all the joyful and fascinating experiences of our own and other folks' earlier days.

Well - the wife has the good forune to be at work when 'Andrew'is now on the radio, but, having had the misfortune to cop for him today on the car radio on on her day off she was less than impressed.'I don't answer to Andy or mate or Andy mate.!- Welcome back !THEN - later and not a million miles away we have Look North on the telly.Christa doing her best in designer clobber and poor old Harry Gration, back from some far flung place with a great(hopefully real)tan.Decent suit, modest shirt for a change and a GREEN tie,not the best choice but when matched withGREEN SOCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Harry - it's not black and white anymore - or do you dress in the dark !

For someone who's only just come back to gracing the airwaves (and who only works Monday - Thursday, apparently), Andy Edwards seems to be 'off' more than he's been 'on' of late when I've tuned in.Shock horror, he didn't seem to be making too bad a go of the drivetime show - he's still very local radio, but he seems to work better when he's not carrying a partner on the show.

Not heard much of Andrew's new show yet but I am completely gob smacked that Radio Leeds have won an award (admittedly at an awards ceremony for BBC Local Radio stations only) for the breakfast show he presented with Georgey Spanswick.http://radiotoday.co.uk/news.php?extend.6433.2If the award had been for the worst breakfast show in the country presented by the most annoying woman on the planet then I could have understood this award. Unbelievable.

The amateur religious Richard Staples just "lost it" altogether this morning and sometimes repeated it three or four times in a sentence.Tomorrow at 3.00pm Andrew Edwards returns to "get you home" for three hours. Already we've had to listen to his "blowing his own trumpet" trailer assuring us of "THE BEST sport, news, travel, music" etc. Aren't these numbers the text equivalent of premium rate call? Alot of news programmes use them - charging YOU to give them news or opinions they can use! There'll always be someone willing to part with their cash for the privilage though - maybe they don't really check their bills This one is normal service provider rates as are most BBC contacts. They say start your message with the word LEEDS because they use the same number for other progs, start your message WYS,West Yorkshire Sport etc.'Blakey' -----------Keep some decent CD's in the car in case of emergency. Had a text message rejected because I fogot 'To start my message with the word Leeds'That 81333 covers the WHOLE of England with dozens of options. For those sad enough the link ishttp://www.bbc.co.uk/england/sms/

Liz Green's show 12til 2pm possibly 3 pm is nownetworked on I think all the Yorkshire BBC local radio stations.Never known this to happen during the day, common practiceearly to late evening.People phoning in from Sheffield(spit)Barnsley and even Chesterfield.Makes the traffic news a bit long winded though.to be fair though, the 2 -3 pm slot 'One on One has featured some really intersting local people.

Andrew "Andy" Edwards - the jockey for the drivetime show - never knowingly uses a sentence when he can ram a paragraph in instead. And time checks - even though he is still unable to decipher a 24 hour clock - dropped in randomly every few minutes.
