I can see his appeal but don't realy find him funny ( RG i mean!). I am always late with humour, found the Fast Show funny way after everyone else so he may grow on me. Is it me bbeing old ( 43!) or Russel Brand just not funny?

Is it me bbeing old ( 43!) or Russel Brand just not funny? I've never seen Russell Brand do anything, and I hope I never will. After the perfomance with Wossy and Andrew Sachs he comes across as a total.I think Ricky Gervais is really funny though. The Office and Extras are obviously accutely observed.I like the Fast Show - especially Caroline Ahern. (ear 'oles, eye 'oles and *****)I find Victoria Wood funny. She's a bit like a female Alan Bennett really. I find a lot of his stuff funny too. But it's observational comedy.

He came across in interviews as a nice chap, but I never found him funny - but then I never found Chaplin funny either. I like Buster Keaton and I like Laurel and Hardy. As for today's comedians - I like Ricky Gervais - that's about it really. Must say I prefer Laurel and Hardy to Chaplin as well but I recall a documentary where a film crew showed a Chaplin picture to some south American Indians and they were in hysterics - so maybe we've lost something - it would be fascinating to have a recording from the 1920's of a British audience watching a Chaplin picture to see how they reacted.

I'm with you on Victoria Wood Trojan, and glad it's not just me with Brand. I went to see Victoria Wood at the Grand a few years ago under sufferance and was laughing my head off within minutes
